This project is inspired by the science of Cymatics : The study of visible effects of sound and vibration.
I am interested in exploring the visual similarities between patterns found in sacred art and patterns created by natural phenomena. Because it is possible to freeze the transient patterns of the resonant frequencies of glass plates by firing them, I can investigate how these patterns relate to one another by stacking the plates after they have been fired. Some patterns line up along their nodal lines; These patterns reference Buddhist Mandalas, as well as patterns found in the atomic structures of Meteorites.
